McGreivey's is a lively Irish pub located on Broad Street in Waterford, NY, offering a mix of hearty comfort food and classic pub vibes. The atmosphere here strikes a balance between casual and welcoming — a spot where locals drop in for everything from a relaxed lunch to a busy Friday night gathering. You’ll find a well-rounded menu featuring traditional Irish-inspired dishes alongside American pub staples, with an emphasis on fresh, made-from-scratch preparations.

Food here suits those looking to unwind with familiar flavors done well: standouts include their fresh-cut fish and chips, the rich French Onion Soup, and unexpected twists like the poutine with corned beef. The pub’s kitchen impresses by crafting most dishes from scratch, which is evident in the depth of flavor across salads, soups, and mains such as steak frites, meatloaf, and broiled salmon with beurre blanc. For those seeking variety, options span from elegant seafood stews like cioppino to casual items like pulled pork sandwiches and wraps.

McGreivey’s works well as a laid-back lunch spot, especially midweek when the dining room is calm and servers give you space to enjoy your meal without rush. Come Friday or Saturday night, it fills with more buzz, yet the staff manage the busyness with attentive, friendly service that doesn’t overwhelm. The bar also serves as a comfortable hangout, great for relaxing with a craft cocktail or a plate of calamari after work or with friends.

Visitors who appreciate straightforward, well-executed pub cuisine alongside a low-key yet warm environment will find McGreivey’s fits nicely into both casual weekday dining and lively weekend evenings. The focus on fresh ingredients, from the crisp avocado and tomatoes in salads to the house-cut fries cooked in fresh oil, adds a noticeable quality that sets it apart from more generic pub fare. Whether you’re stopping in for a comforting meal or sharing a few pints, this spot feels like part of the local fabric of Waterford.

We had a great Friday lunch. I ordered a cosmo, it was perfect. The bar tender took the time to suggest a few menu items. We both ordered the soup & it was delicious. We had the grilled avocado chicken, the tomato was so fresh, & delicious, also served with red onion. I’m not usually a French fry eater but it was obvious these were fresh cut & fried in fresh oil. Everything was delicious, we’re looking forward to the next trip!!

McGreivey's is a hidden gem, my goodness, everything was fresh, divine, and mouth watering. Their kitchen cooks 90% of the food from scratch. I ate my dinner there around 3-4pm on a Saturday, dining room not busy, servers were very nice and down to Earth and don't check on you too often, as to let you enjoy your meal, they are good with the refills. I will definitely be going here more often, going forward. Outstanding. (Pictured is French onion soup, hearty, rich, crunchy topping, Perfect, 2nd sirloin steak salad with balsamic dressing, steak tasted fresh off the grill, all the flavors marry well in this salad, 3rd was the Irish soda bread bread pudding accompanied by vanilla ice cream and drizzle of caramel.... Safe to say I finished every last morsel)

We had such a great experience! The food was absolutely delicious — we ordered the steak frites and the meatloaf. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the hand-cut fries were amazing. My boyfriend loved the meatloaf with mashed potatoes — pure comfort food done right. We sat in the pub area, and our server Liam was awesome — friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. We can’t wait to go back!

McGreiveys is a fantastic spot! The bartender was charismatic and funny, adding to the fun atmosphere. I had the spinach artichoke chicken with rice and veggies, and the green beans were perfectly crispy and hot. The sauce for the chicken was delicious! They also had Genesee at a great price, and it’s just a short walk from the marina. Highly recommend!

They have a varied menu which made it hard to choose. So many great dishes. Got the Jambala which was dinner size huge and the turkey with mashed potatoes and hot gravy. Lots of left overs! Rice pudding for desert was excellent. Really nice inside the restaurant, good size bar area as well. We're definitely going back and try othrt offering. Friendly and attentive staff with team approach. Our server Liz was especially nice.

After a long hike and kayak situation today we got hungry!! The endless scroll though Google suggested this place. When I walked in I wasn't over the moon about the look however, it was clean and quiet for a nice lunch meal. Our server and bartender Ryan was excellent, checking on us frequently and suggesting sauces for dipping (your boy loves to dip). We started with legit calamari with the tentis (tentacles) like I love!! Sauteed after in spicy peppers and garlic it was delicious, great way to start the experience. I then had the classic burger with bacon and sauteed onions as well as the house cut fries, they were delicious. The second meal was the crispy eggplant sandwich served on a nice brioche roll!! Everything including the drinks were delicious, these service was great and I find myself wanting to hike just so I have an excuse to eat here! You won't be sorry.. a great spot with great food!!
